Why Coverage Isn't a Simple Yes or No
The same procedure can be covered or excluded depending on your pet's history, plan type, and enrollment timing. A dog ACL surgery is covered if your dog never limped before you enrolled — excluded if limping was noted in the vet file first. Dental extractions are covered as dental disease on some plans, not covered as preventive care on others.
The biggest lever you have: enroll before your pet has any documented health issues. Pre-existing condition exclusions are the primary way insurers limit payouts.
